5,000 Poles to meet Dalai Lama

It is estimated that 5,000 Poles are to take part in the meeting with Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, who is going to visit Poland's capital city of Warsaw on 11 December.

The free invitations for the meeting will be distributed by the city hall and NGOs fighting for a free Tibet and human rights observances.

Dalai Lama very rarely participates in meetings with crowds of several thousands people. In Europe there have only been a several of these kinds of events.

Dziennik reports also that the officials of one of the Warsaw's districts of Wola are to pass a special resolution to name one of the roundabouts in the city centre „Free Tibet.” The initiators of the action want the resolution to be adopted before the Dalai Lama comes to Poland.

Tenzin Gyatso, the head of the Tibetan government-in-exile based in Dharamshala, India and Nobel Peace Prize laureate is visiting Poland in December. He was invited to receive an honorary doctorate awarded to him by Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
